A Fabulous Italian Sculpture Of Perseus With the Head of Medusa, 1800's
This is a fabulous antique Italian sculpture depicting Perseus with the Head of Medusa that dates from the earlier part of the 19th century. Created as a Grand Tour souvenir where many visitors to Florence wanted to bring home smaller versions of famous works of art, this exceptional treasure is based on the masterpiece by Benvenuto Cellini created during 1545 – 1554. It is a bronze sculpture with Perseus holding the head of Medusa while standing on her body. The bronze is mounted on a white marble base. It measures about 34.8 x 7 x 7 cm or approximately 13.7 x 2.7 x 2.7 inches and it is in lovely antique condition with minor signs of ageing and exactly as I discovered it. For the full condition please refer to the images!
