A Precious And Extremely Rare Baroque Spanish Wood Carving Of God, 1700’s

This is a precious antique Spanish wood carving of God that dates from the 18th century. In the past God was often depicted as the architect of the universe - a wise bearded man holding a globe among the clouds. This is one of those fascinating representation that is carved with masterful talent and artistry. The carving is painted and gilded. Some of the gilding has flaked away during the passage of time creating in the process a wonderful timeworn patina that in my opinion only brings forward its true beauty and splendour today. The carving is highly decorative treasure that measures about 17 x 20.5 x 11.5 cm or approximately 6.7 x 8 x 4.5 inches. It is exactly as I discovered it in Barcelona.
