A Stunning Antique French Grape Hod, Hand Painted Galvanised Metal, 1800's
This is a stunning and highly decorative antique French Grape Hod that dates from the late 1800’s. It is made of galvanised metal and in the past it used to have leather straps on its back which are no longer in existence. The front is hand painted with a coat of arms of Chateauneuf-du-Pape, a commune in the South of France famous for its vineyards and red vine. It measures about 63 x 60 x 38 cm or approximately 24.8 x 23.6 x 14.9 inches and it is in lovely antique condition with minor signs of ageing that in my opinion only brings forward its true beauty and splendour today. It is exactly as I discovered it in September of 2021 in the South of France. For the full condition please refer to the images!
This is a remarkable French treasure for a stylish and unique interior that would look just exquisite when displayed on its own or used perhaps for a large floral display, as a decorative planter [as shown on some of the images] or holding wood logs next to a fire place.
