Antique French Fireplace Screen, Art Nouveau, 1800's
An exquisite and rare antique French Art Nouveau fireplace screen, 1800's.
This superb and higly decorative French Art Nouveau treasure was discovered in July of 2021 in the South of France. This is a fireplace screen created in the second half of the 19th century from bronze and brass in the shape of a fan with an elaborate and intricate design of astonishing beauty and charm. In France they also call it a peacock because of its resemblance to peacock's tail. It opens and closes like a real fan with its lace like parts folding in the middle. It measures about 60 x 87 x 17 cm or approximately 23.6 x 34.2 x 6.7 inches and it is in lovely antique condition with some signs of ageing - mainly seen in a timeworn patina - which in my opinion only brings forward its true beauty and splendour today. It is exactly as I discovered it. For the full condition please refer to the images!
