A Fabulous Antique French Decorative Branch, Ancient Award, 1800's

Since the 19th century in France such branches were given as awards for great accomplishments in arts, sports, academic achievments and civil service. This is one of those stunning treasures that dates from the 1800's. It is a highly decorative item made of gilded metal. Through the passage of time a mesmerising timeworn patina of exceptional beauty and splendour was created. Such items are wonderful when displayed on flat surfaces such as books or placed on a wall or a bookshelf for example. Also in combination with other decorative items - as shown on the last image of this listing - one can create a fascinating interior display. The branch measures about 32.5 x 10 x 2.5 cm or approximately 12.8 x 3.9 x 0.9 inches and it is in lovely antique condition with minor signs of ageing that in my opinion only brings forward its true charm and opulence today. It is exactly as I found it many years ago in an antique store in Paris. For the full condition please refer to the images!
