A Fabulous Antique Italian Memento Mori, Hand Carved And Gilded Wood, 1700's

This is a truly fabulous and extremely rare antique Italian Memento Mori that was discovered recently in Naples. Dating from the early 18th century this ancient treasure is hand carved from wood and gilded. A skull with two crossed bones is placed above the ever stunning acanthus. The carving measures about 28 x 21 x 10.5 cm or approximately 11 x 8.6 x 4.1 inches and it is in a beautifully distressed patina created by the passage of time. This in my opinion only brings forth its true splendour today. It is exactly as I discovered it from a private collection. For the full condition please refer to the images!
