A Fabulous Antique Italian Painted Wood Panel With Great Patina, 1800's

This is a fabulous antique Italian painted wood panel that dates from the early 19th century or older. Discovered recently in Tuscany this highly decorative treasure comes with a stunning timeworn patina that gives it a captivating appeal. The images or symbols create a heraldic sign as well as truly sublime colours. It reads: "Confraternita del Ss. Sacramento" which means "Fraternity of the Blessed Sacrament", an ancient Dominican association that dates back to 1543. This is an oil painting on an oval wooden board that measures about 47.5 x 42.5 cm or approximately 18.7 x 16.7 inches.
