A Fascinating Antique French Santo, Wooden Statue Of Mary Magdalene, 1600's
This is a fascinating and one of a kind antique French santo that dates from the 17th century. Hand carved from wood and painted, this remarkable statue comes from a chateau close to Avignon. It represents Mary Magdalene, a saint that is highly celebrated in the South of France as it is believed that she arrived there after the Crucifixion of Christ. Through the passage of time [400 years old] a magnificent patina has been created that in my opinion only brings forth its true unique beauty and splendour today. This is a rare artifact with powerful presence and meaning and exactly as I discovered recently in France. For the full condition please refer to the images!
