A Glorious And Rare Antique Italian Angel From Naples, 1800's

This glorious angel originates from Naples in the South of Italy, famed for its unique creche figures and devotional statues. The head, wings, arms and legs are delicately hand made from terracotta and painted with masterful artistry and craftsmanship. The arms and legs are attached to the body with strong wires that allow them to be positioned in a desired posture. The angel's elaborate dress is adorned with stunning lace and metallic bullion trims as well as an abundance of clear crystals all stitched by hand. It is also created in a way that simulates the movement of the angel in flight. It measures about 30 x 28 x 13.5 cm or approximately 11.8 x 11 x 5.3 inches and it is in great antique condition with minor signs of ageing that in my opinion only enhance its true beauty and splendour today.
