A Gorgeous And Rare Antique Portuguese St John With A Lamb, 1800's

This is an absolutely gorgeoys and rare St John the Baptist - as child - with a lamb that originates from the 19th century. Created in Portugal from hand painted terracotta tiles in blue tones known as "azulejos" this remarkable treasure is exceptional in its artistic quality and meaning. Such tiles were created in the past for the grand facades and are impressive today as they were centuries ago. Nine tiles are framed in the wood frame measuring about 43 x 29 cm or approximately 16.9 x 11.4 inches. It is in lovely antique condition as exactly as I discovered it.
