A Gorgeous Antique French Gilded Fragment With A Distressed Patina, 1700’s

This is an absolutely gorgeous antique French treasure that was discovered in March of 2022 in the South of France. It is a hand carved and gilded wood fragment that once was part of a grand interior from the 18th century. It measures about 50 x 21 x 4 cm or approximately 19.6 x 8.2 x 1.5 inches. Through the passage of time some of the gilding has flaked away creating in the process a fascinating timeworn patina with a distressed appeal. Such items are extremely rare and an exceptional addition to any stylish and unique interior, classical or contemporary. The carving is exactly as I discovered it.
