A Gorgeous Antique French Processional Banner With Joan Of Arc, 1800's
This is a gorgeous antique French processional banner that dates from the second half of the 19th century. Discovered recently this remarkable treasure featrures Joan of Arc [1412 – 1431] who is the patron saint of France. Claiming to be acting under divine guidance, she became a military leader - at a very young age - who transcended gender roles and gained recognition as the savior of France. The banner is a wonderful and elegant print of the saint on a natural coloured fabric with three metallic tassels in gold that hang from the bottom. It measures about 105 x 40 cm or approximately 41.3 x 15.7 inches and it is in lovely antique condition with minor signs of ageing and exactly as I discovered it. It is highly decorative treasure with stunning artistic quality. For the full condition please refer to the images!
