A Lovely Italian Baroque Stand, Hand Carved And Gilded Wood Base, 1700's

This is a lovely Italian baroque stand that dates from the 18th century. Used as a base for a work of art or other decorative object this fabulous treasure is hand carved from wood and gilded in a combination of gold and silver. Through the passage of ages a gorgeous timeworn patina has been created that in my opinion only brings forth its true opulence and splendour today. Such items are great as they elevate interiors by creating unique and stylish displays. Today they could hold a statue or other works of art, plants, vases or natural curiosities as the coral shown in some images of this listing. The stand measures about 15.5 x 25 x 20.5 cm or approximately 6 x 10 x 8 inches with signs of ageing expected from items of this period. It is exactly as I discovered it.
