A Pair Of Antique French Gilded Candleholders, 1700's

A glorious pair of antique Italian altar candleholders with exceptional distressed patina.
 
This stunning pair of antique altar candleholders was discovered in May of 2021 in Italy. They are entirely hand carved from wood with a gilded front. Through the passage of time some of the gilding has flaked away creating in this process a fantastic distressed patina that in my opinion only brings forward their true beauty and splendour today. They are tall, each measuring about 73.5 x 17 x 15 cm or approximately 28.9 x 6.7 x 5.9 inches and in lovely antique condition with signs of ageing that gives them an exquisite character and presence like no other. This is a remarkable antique treasure that would look just superb when displayed on its own or in combination with other decorative items - as shown in the last two images of this listing - in order to create a spectacular interior exhibit!
