A Pair Of Fabulous Italian Pharmaceutical Jars, Wood With Distressed Patina

This is a pair of a truly fabulous Italian pharmaceutical jars that are entirely hand made from wood and painted. Deriving probably from the early 19th century this stunning pair of highly decorative urns was once used to store dried herbs. Through the passage of time some of the paint has flaked away creating in the process a remarkable distressed patina of captivating beauty and charm. They are large, each one measuring about 42 x 15 x 15 cm or approximately 16.5 x 6 x 6 inches - including their  lids - and exactly as I discovered them in Florence. In lovely condition with signs of ageing mainly seen in their timeworn patina that makes them absolutely gorgeous today.
