A Pair Of Fierce Lions, Antique Italian Gilded Wood Carvings, 1700's

This is a pair of antique Italian lions that were discovered recently in Naples. Dating from the early 18th century this fabulous pair is hand carved from wood and gilded. Through their impressive age some of the gilding has flaked away creating in the process a marvellous distressed patina that in my opinion only brings forth their true fierce beauty and splendour today. Each lion measures abour 15 x 15 x 7 cm or approximately 6 x 6 x 2.7 inches. They are exactly as I found them with signs of ageing that gives them such a magnificent presence. They would look wonderful if displayed on a flat surface [such as a desk or a pile of books] or on a wall. For the full condition please refer to the images!
