A Marvelous Pair Of Gilded Antique French Swans With Timeworn Patina, 1800's

This is a marvelous pair of rare antique French swans discovered in the South of France. They were created during the French Empire period - at the beginning of the 1800's - as adorments for opulent interiors. Created with masterful artistry and craftsmenship these gorgeous swans are hand carved from wood and gilded. Through the passage of time some of the gilding has flaked away creating in the process a wonderful patina of distressed appeal. Each swan measures about 21 x 15 x 8 cm or approximately 8.3 x 6 x 3.1 inches and they are in lovely antique condition with signs of ageing that in my opinion only brings forward their true beauty and splendour today.
