A Pair Of Lovely Italian Pharmaceutical Urns, Carved Wood With Distressed Patina

This is a pair of lovely and rare antique Italian pharmaceutical urns that were recently discovered in Tuscany. They are carved from wood and painted beautifully in the shades of blue on a cream/white background. Such items were used in the past as vessels for herbs and other medicinal plants in apothecaries as well as private homes. They are from the early 19th century or older and come with a fabulous distressed patina that gives them such great presence today. Each one measures about 47 x 17.5 x 17.5 or approximately 18.5 x 6.8 x 6.8 inches and they are exactly as I discovered them with a captivating  timeworn patina that in my opinion only brings forth their true beauty and splendour today.
