A Pair of Rare Antique French Columns With A Stunning Timeworn Patina, 1600's
This is a pair of remarkable antique French columns that date from the 17th century. Discovered recently in the South of France this fabulous and highly decorative treasure is hand carved from wood into an intricate spiral pattern with a grape wine. Yet what makes these columns truly outstanding is a glorious timeworn patina that has been created over the course of many centuries. This can be seen in quite extraordinary markings created by the flaking of the original gilding. The columns were once part of a grand interior tableau. Today they would look in my opinion just exquisite in a stylish and unique interior. Each column measures about 95 x 17 x 17 cm or approximately 37.4 x 6.6 x 6.6 inches and they are exactly as I discovered them. For the full condition please refer to the images!
