A Remarkable Pair Of Antique Italian Lambs Of God, Wood Carvings, 1600's

This is a truly remarkable antique Italian treasure that dates from the 17th century, Venice. Discovered recently this exceptional duo represents Agnus Dei or the Lambs of God that are hand carved from wood. Created almost as a mirrorized image this unique sacred treasure is exquisite in its poignant beauty as well as its meaning. The lambs are positioned on stands in the shape of books [Bibles] which is a significant part of this ancient symbol of God. They are outstanding as a sculptural artefact as well as their stunning artistic quality that even today after more than four centuries they still radiate such magnetism. In lovely antique condition with some signs of ageing which is understandable considering their age. One of the ears is missing. However this in my opinion only brings forth their true authenticity and splendour today. They are exactly as I discovered them. For the full condition please refer to the images!
