A Stunning Antique Italian Treasure Chest From Rome, Wood, 1800's

This is a stunning antique Italian treasure chest that was discovered recently in Rome. It dates from the early part of the 19th century and it is made of wood with highly elaborate inlay of bone on its front. This exquisite decorative pattern of lovely birds and flowers surrounds the focal point of a figure representing a guardian [of treasures placed within the chest]. The central part includes a door with its original lock and key behind which are four draws. The sides feature six additional draws, three on each side. The chest measures about 49 x 59 x 26 cm or approximately 19.2 x 23.2 x 10.2 inches and it is in overall good antique condition with signs of ageing expected of a 200 year old item.
