A Wonderful Antique French Wood Carving With A Distressed Patina, 1800's

This is an absolutely wonderful antique French wood carving that dates from the early part of the 19th century. Discovered recently this gorgeous and highly decorative treasure - with two birds in the nest on a leafy background - is hand carved from wood. Once it was fully gilded. Through the passage of time most of the gilding has flaked away creating in the process a stunning distressed patina that in my opinion only brings forth its true romantic beauty and timeworn splendour today. The carving measures about 34.5 x 48 x 9 cm or 13.5 x 18.8 x 3.5 inches. For the full condition please refer to the images!
