A Wonderful Italian Santo With Silver Halo, Sacred Heart, Devotional Medallions

This is a wonderful and rare antique Italian Santo that was discovered recently in Naples. Most certainly it is a representation of the Virgin Mary from the late 19th century or early 1900's. The figure is made of flexible wire covered with ropes which allows it to be positioned in a desirable form - by bending the arms and legs it could sit, stand etc. The head, hands and the legs are masterfully created from painted terracotta. The eyes are made of glass. The Santo is adorned with a magnificent halo, a sacred heart on its chest as well as more than 20 small devotional medallions collected as souvenirs from European sacred sites in France and Italy. All the accessories are made of silver. When standing it is about 46 cm or 18 inches high. In lovely antique condition considering its age and exactly as I found it.
