An Amazing And Extremely Rare Large Antique Italian Book Stand, Bronze, 1800's

This is an absolutely amazing and extremely rare antique Italian book stand that dates from the first half of the 19th century. Discovered recently in Tuscany this remarkable stand is made of bronze that was silver plated. This is highly ornate and decorative antique treasure that was once most certainly a church holder of a large bible. The central part can move in a desired position [hight] and it is in a stunning and elaborate design bearing JHS [Initials for Jesus] surrounded by wheat and a grape wine - symbolic representation for bread and wine or body and blood of Christ. The top part is adorned with gorgeous angels holding a cross among magnificent acanthus, also used for the feet. When opened, the stand measures about 40 x 44 x 40 cm or approximately 15.7 x 17.3 x 15.7 inches. It is in great antique condition with signs of ageing mainly seen in a fabulous patina created by the passage of time. Today, such treasure could hold a large contemporary book or a work of art that would look just exquisite in any stylish and unique interior. It is exactly as I discovered it.
