An Amazing And Rare Collection Of Fifteen Antique Italian Puppets, 1800's
This is an absolutely amazing and extremely rare collection of antique Italian puppets that was discovered recently in the Tuscan town of Lucca. Dating from the 19th century this exceptional collection is comprised of many fabulous characters including a king, queen, entertainers as well as servants and the friends of the household. Each figure is constructed from moveable heads, arms and feet which are made out of painted terracotta. They are dressed in the most exquisite hand made robes and costumes with great precision and detail. Such figures were parts of home theatres used to entertain children as well as grown ups. They are highly collectable and could also be used as Christmas tree decorations as each contains a little hook on its head from which that could be hung if desired. This is a remarkable collection that is still in lovely, great antique condition. Perhaps because it was stored in a wooden bonboniere box for decades. It is exactly as I discovered it.
