An Exceptional Antique French Double Sided Gilded Floral Carving, Early 1700's

This is an exceptional and extremely rare antique French wood carwing with flowers that is double sided or carved from both sides [front and back]. This is truly unusual. Discovered recently this remarkable and highly decorative treasure that dates from the 18th century is a large embellishment that once most probably was the crowning part of a grand interior display that is no longer in existence. An abundance of exquisite flowers that are masterfuly carved - in a stunning design  - and gilded. Through the passage of time some of the gilding has flaked away creating in the process a fascinating distressed patina of captivating beauty and charm.  This is a one of a kind find that measures about 24 x 51 x 14 cm or 9.4 x 20 x 5.5 inches and it is exactly as I discovered it.
