An Exceptional Antique Italian Christ Statue, Gilded Wood Carving, 1700's

This is an exceptional antique Italian Christ statue that was discovered recently in Tuscany, Italy. This remarkable "Corpus Christi" or the Body of Christ dates from the later part of the 18th century. The figure is hand carved from wood and gilded. It is still in great antique condition considering its age with minor signs of ageing mainly seen in a lovely patina created by the passage of time.
