An Exceptional French Sculpture, Bronze Head Of Neptune On A Stand, 1800's

This is an exceptional antique French bronze sculpture depicting the head of Neptune, the Roman god of the sea. He is the counterpart to the Greek god Poseidon. As a major deity, he is often portrait as a powerful and handsome bearded man, which has been a source of the artistic inspiration for centuries. This magnificent Neptune is made from bronze with an outstanding patina in the shades of green. Created with fine artistic quality and mounted on a metal stand for a great display it measures about 48.5 x 46.5 x 16.5 cm or approximately 19 x 18.3 x 5.5 inches [including the stand].
