An Exquisite French Bust Of Diana, Hand Carved Marble Sculpture, Signed, 1800's

This is an absolutely exquisite antique French bust of Diana that dates from the 19th century. Created with exceptional talent this hand carved white marble sculpture is astonishing in its beauty as well as the craftsmanship that went into its creation. This breathtaking bust bears the signature of its maker and it was discovered in Nimes in the South of France. Such sculptural treasures could be displayed in indoors as well as in gardens, bringing a true classical elegance to any stylish and unique interior. 
 
The Goddess Diana is the ancient Roman deity of hunt, wilderness, wild animals and the moon - often equated with the Greek goddess Artemis, known for her chastity and role as a protector of women and childbirth. She embodies independence, nature's untamed beauty, and a fierce protectiveness. Diana is often depicted with stags, hounds, and a crescent moon.
