An Opulent And Large Antique French Brass Jardiniere With Lovely Patina, 1800's
This is an opulent and large antique French jardiniere that dates from the earlier part of the 19th century. Discovered recently in Avignon in the South of France, this gorgeous treasure is captivating in its elaborate design as well as a magnificent patina created by the passage of time. It measures about 28.5 x 46.5 x 32.5 cm or approximately 11.2 x 18.3 x 12.7 inches and it is created from brass with great attention to detail and craftsmanship. It also bears the number and embossed name of its maker. The jardiniere comes with a zinc inlay. This is a large vessel so it could hold a few pots of orchids for example or be used as a fruit bowl or a container of other treasures if desired. Its sculptural appeal is just magnificent. The jardinere is exactly as I discovered it with signs of ageing mainly seen in a glorious patina that is just exquisite. This in my opinion only enhances its true beauty and splendour today.
