An Outstanding And Extremely Rare Italian Baroque Reliquary, 1700’s

This is an outstanding and extremely rare Baroque masterpiece consisting of a delicately carved figures of St Florian and two precious angels at his feet. Created with the great talent and high artistic quality the carving also serves as a reliquary of Jesus Christ which is remarkable in itself. The relic is placed behind the glass in the base below St Florian. This sacred work is mostly created from wood except the eyes of the figures which are made of glass, and the silk robes of the saint. This marvellous treasure measures about 54 x 33 x 12 cm or approximately 21.2 x 13 x 4.7 inches and it is in lovely antique condition considering its age with some signs of ageing which is understandable considering the period. However in my opinion this only brings forth its true mesmerising beauty and splendour today. It is exactly as I discovered it in the South of France.
