Antique Italian Baroque Sconce With A Glorious Timeworn Patina, Early 1700’s

This is an outstanding Italian baroque treasure that dates from the early 18th century or older. Discovered in February of 2022 this remarkable and large antique wall sconce from a Venetian palace is entirely hand carved from wood and gilded. Its intricate design inspired by the nature is truly exquisite. During its impressive age of more than 300 years a fascinating timeworn patina with distressed appeal has been created that in my opinion only brings forward its true beauty and splendour today. The sconce could hold two candles and would certainly be a show stopper in any stylish interior, classical or contemporary. It would look just exceptional if displayed above a fire place, a console table or shown in a combination with other treasures in order to create an awe-inspiring and layered home exhibit. Such items are extremely rare these days and represent the jewel in a crown of interior decorating. The sconce measures about 95 x 58 x 10 cm or approximately 37.4 x 22.8 x 3.9 inches and it is exactly as I discovered it with signs of ageing that speak volumes of its magnificent past.
