Death Of Magdalene, Antique French Oil On Canvas Painting, 1800's

This is an extraordinary painting that was discovered recently in Avignon in the South of France. The Magdalene is lying down in a cave, held by two enigmatic male figures, the men expressing their love and adoration. This is an anonymous oil on canvas that is painted in the romantic style during the 19th century.
 
It is widely believed in France that Mary Magdalene arrived to its shores soon after the Crucifixion of Christ. There she continued to spread his true teachings until her death. Many sites and churches that bear her name have been visited for centuries by pilgrims as well as scholars in her honour. Around her life many mysteries and legends have been created that have continued to inspire artists for more than 2000 years. 
 
This is truly mysterious work of art and in lovely antique condition with high gloss measuring about 46 x 56 cm or approximately 18 x 22 inches. It is still in its original and elegant gilded wood frame measuring 60 x 70 cm or about 23.6 x 27.5 inches. It is exactly as I discovered it. For the full condition please refer to the images!
