Mary Magdalene At the Feet Of Jesus, French Painting, Oil On Canvas, 1800's

This is an exceptional French painting of Mary Magdalene at the feet of Jesus that was discovered recently in Avignon. This masterful 19th century oil on canvas is exquisite in its fine artistry and composition. It is an anonymous work of art painted in a highly romantic style and still in its original gilded wooden frame measuring about 93.5 x 76.5 x 4 cm or approximately 37 x 30 x 1.5 inches. The canvas size is 78 x 61 cm or about 30.7 x 24 inches. Mary Magdalene is a celebrated figure in the South of France, where this painting was discovered. It is believed that she arrived to the shores of Southern France after the crucifixion of Jesus and continued teaching his gospel. This is a wonderful work of art, in lovely overall antique condition with minor signs of ageing. It appears that some minute restoration work has been done on the canvas in the past which is hardly noticeable. It is exactly as I discovered it. For the full condition please refer to the images!
