This Easter

Ever since I was a small child, Easter represented for me a celebration of Spring abundant in magnificent colours and the scent of blossoming trees and early flowers. My mum was - and still is - an exceptional gardener who knew how to teach and excite her kids in so many ways, from planting seeds to harvesting. I grew up and whenever I’ve moved to another place I carried those seeds my mother planted deeply within my own soul by creating my own gardens.

Then I learned about the story of the resurrection of Christ and realised that Easter is not only about Spring. It is also about the painful truth of dying, loss and sacrifice… Yet as dark as the crucifixion part of the story was, the resurrection element gave hope, transformation and metamorphoses into another state of being. Something like a majestic flower that exists for a very short time, withers but then leaves a seed behind to start a new cycle. Nature is eternal. Life is eternal. We are eternal.

Last night I had a dream. In it, I saw a lamb laying motionless on a bed covered in flowers. Tears rolled from its closed eyes only to transform in the most majestic blossoms as they fell beneath.

Much love, Predrag
